The Journey Behind MT Provisions
How It All Started
MT Provisions began as a simple idea sparked on a high school backpacking trip. We grew up in families who loved the outdoors—spending time hiking, camping, and experiencing the beauty of nature firsthand. It was on one of these trips, as high school friends, that we encountered a problem that would shape our journey.
The Problem We Faced
After a long day on the trail, we caught some fish and decided to cook them for dinner. But what should have been an easy, enjoyable meal turned into a frustrating two-hour process of filleting and cooking on the ground. We had no clean, stable surface to prepare food, organize gear, or safely use a stove. It made us wonder—why didn’t backpackers have a table designed for ultralight travel?
From an Idea to a Solution
When we got back, we started sketching out ideas for a table that could be lightweight, packable, and functional for real backpacking needs. We quickly realized that the problem wasn’t just the lack of a table—it was that every table on the market was too heavy, bulky, or unstable for true backcountry use.
Years of Testing & Refinement
Over the next three years, through the end of high school and into college, we built and refined dozens of prototypes. We took them on mountaineering trips, long-distance backpacking routes, and weekend getaways, testing every possible way to make them lighter, stronger, and more versatile.
Where We Are Today
Now, after countless refinements, we’re proud to introduce a table built for real backpackers—ultralight, durable, and designed to adapt to the challenges of the trail.
